Jared is a character in Mr. Young. His first appearance is in Mr. Love Letter, as the episode's primary antagonist. He's a Finnegan High student and also a rival student competing for Echo's love. Jared is portrayed by Samuel Patrick Chu.

Biography[]

He makes his only appearance in Mr. Love Letter, where he was first seen in the background alongside the other students burying prized items into a time capsule, in which he buried some newspapers.

A week later, when a weevil infestation disrupts the school, Jared was among those present at the quad where the time capsule was buried, where he overheard Principal Tater give a love letter to Echo from Adam. As Echo finishes reading it, it was revealed the weevils had eaten Adam's name off the paper.

In science class, Echo wonders who wrote the love letter, Jared immediately told her it was him, much to Adam's annoyance. The duo later became a couple, with a jealous Adam plotting on how to prove that Jared didn't write the letter.

Adam later calls Jared in to discuss his homework. As proof Jared didn't write the letter, he tries to get Jared to admit his handwriting was not similar to the love letter. Jared initially panics, but becomes relived when the weevils ate his homework.

As a second plot, Adam tries to slip a letter of insults into Echo's locker, in which he hopes Echo will break up with him since both letters have the same handwriting. Unfortunately, he is nearly caught by Echo and Jared, forcing him to slip the letter into Slab's locker.

Later, Jared and Echo begin spending time together in the quad, only to be interrupted by an angry Slab. Slab threatens Jared about the letter addressed to him, to which Echo wonders why he would write that letter to Slab. Jared, in panic, admits he didn't write both letters, leading Echo to break up with him, and he's forced to run away from both of them.

Trivia[]

  • He can be seen as a background character in the quad twice before his formal appearance in the episode.
  • Apparently he has an average knowledge of science, as Adam states his answers were right but his definition of the Sun and Moon being the only two sources of light in the universe were wrong.
  • Like most characters, he fears Slab.
  • He has a habit of saying "Uh..." when he panics, which was noted by Adam and Echo.
  • Unlike the other students in the episode, his homework remained intact until Adam's confrontation, in which the weevils ate his homework (much to the annoyance of Slab).
